Help me give my students exposure to the wonders of microbiology (microscopic organisms) living organisms to small to be seen by the naked eye.

My Project

I am a seasoned teacher with over 25 plus years of experience. I teach fifth grade science at Canby Lane Elementary School in Decatur, GA. This year, I will be putting together a science lab for our fifth-grade scholars. Over the years, I have always reached deep into my pockets to purchase anything and everything my scholars needed to make learning engaging. I was diligent in asking local home improvement stores for discarded items I could use. I also borrowed from other teachers, or asked family and friends for assistance. I became my own Donors Choose. Our new science lab will be in need of microscopes; however, my pockets are not deep enough to get the two OMAX 40X- 2000X LED Binocular Compound Lab Microscopes w/a double layer mechanical stage my students need to learn about microbiology. The microscopes we have are vintage and Galileo probably used them himself. I am trusting that a donor will choose my classroom to support. I want my students to fall in love with science just as I did when I saw a paramecium magnified under a microscope for the first time. I want them to experience the fascination of learning about microbiology. So many teachers at my school were funded this year. I couldn’t believe it! I saw the plethora of materials and supplies that the teachers received through Donors Choose and realized that seeing is believing. Therefore, I believe that with your generosity, my science lab will get funded too!
