Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Working in a low income school, it is difficult for me to ask my students to purchase supplies part-way through the year. Additionally, my area has a high rate of mobility and new students that come into the school often have no supplies. Without pencils and notebooks, it is hard for the students to practice their skills. I know that for many parents, affording school supplies is a difficulty.
Through the course of the school year, pencil supplies have been depleted, sharpeners have been used up, notebooks have been filled, and game pieces have been lost. It is hard to keep 29 people's supplies organized in the classroom and things become misplaced, unorganized and messy.
We need your help to get us back on track! My class needs some organizational crates to hold papers and supplies used throughout the day. We also need replacement supplies that we have run out of through the course of the school year. Help us concentrate on the important things (like learning how to divide) rather than worrying about getting new notebooks and having unsharpened pencils!
Your generous donation will help outfit my classroom with supplies we desperately need. You will be helping organize the classroom with crates to hold games, manipulatives and worksheets. You will also be providing us with writing implements and places to store our thoughts and writings. These supplies will be used throughout this year and next to outfit students who do not have the money to afford the supplies. With your help, we will be back on track with the supplies we need to keep learning and growing!
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
