My Project

The students in my 5th grade class have been on fire for the Dogman and Diary of a Wimpy Kid books and are fighting over the books in the school library.

This is the first year my students have begged me to get this series in the classroom so that when they finish one, they can immediately move on to the next, trading books like baseball cards, I can't keep up with them.

Getting upper elementary students, especially boys, to read on their own is the hardest thing to do and the best thing they can do to become better readers. I smile to myself every time I see them sneaking a book onto their lap during instruction because even though they should be paying attention...They Are Reading!
