Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a high school special education class in the Bay Area, California. Despite the need for extensive support for learning, my students are highly committed and invested to continuously learn through our daily virtual classes . Some of the skills that we are learning this semester are functional academics, personal care, and independent living skills. By attending our virtual online classes, students do not only learn and practice functional academic skills in english and math, they also learn how to prepare healthy meals, how to help with household chores (making their beds every morning, washing the dishes or clothes, taking out the trash, etc.), how to workout and enjoy other recreational activities, and practice relevant social skills.

My Project

Through this quality and multi-featured equipment, I will be able to prepare and facilitate instruction to students with special needs on different online platforms like Google Classroom, Seesaw, Flipgrid, etc. Our class meet daily or 5x a week to learn and review learning materials, practice life skills, and support students socio-emotionally during this unique and challenging time. We also hold our daily health and wellness session where we prepare healthy meals, workout together and explore other recreational activities. I am very proud of my students and their families who support their learners tremendously.
