This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our students love to be creative and work on their arts and crafts, all while improving their fine motor skills. The materials included in the project will help us create fine motor skill activities for our classroom to support our Kindergarten students. Some activities, like bead bracelets and rubber band bracelets, also appeal to the students' creative interests.
We also use playdoh all the time, in all subjects, to learn academic content while simultaneously developing fine motor skills.
For example, when we learn and work on the letter Ss, students can actually form the letter with playdoh as well as create objects (like a saxophone) that have that same initial sound. Another example is when we use playdoh to represent different three-dimensional shapes in mathematics. These kinesthetic, fine motor activities engage the students and help them achieve mastery of everything they are learning.
