Our school is a Pre-K through 2nd-grade early childhood level building. We are very fortunate that our building contains a student kitchen area for classrooms to use for sciences and cooking projects, but there's just one problem...There are no cooks in the kitchen! Our current gas range is old, but also missing knobs, and most classrooms do not feel safe using it. When the range was working, classrooms would use the kitchen to work on various cooking and STEM projects. These different projects covered learning nutrition, healthy eating habits, chemistry through mixing ingredients together, sensory play, learning measurements, fractions, and more.
This project is to put a new gas range in our school's student kitchen that will allow classrooms to again utilize the kitchen to host cooking projects and learn the science and math behind cooking.
