There's NO Reading in Math! Oh YES, There is!

My students need 8 different literature books that teach math. My students also need one set of problem solving cards.

This project is fully funded

I teach 3rd grade at a Title 1 school in North Carolina. This year, I have 20 students in my class with a wide range of ability levels. My students this year, especially LOVE it when I read aloud to them. I would like to include more read aloud opportunities in all subjects, not just reading. My goal this year is to start reading more during my math lessons, so I would like to build up my math library. Math is more than just numbers. It is essential for students to be exposed to math concepts in a variety of ways, to foster their interest and learning. Along with the math literature, I would also like to include more problem solving on a daily basis. If students learn that math requires them to use their comprehension and thinking skills (the same way they use those skills in reading), students will be more successful in math. My overall goal as a teacher is for all students to believe in themselves and to be interested and successful in all academic areas.
