There’s Definitely More Than One Way to Communicate!

Help me give my students alternative methods to communicate. through tactile and visual supports

My Project

I have been blessed with a class of mostly non-verbal students and we are asking for items that are alternate ways to communicate. In addition to spoken words, I am hoping to provide alternate ways to teach my students how to communicate.

Other than the classroom, my students could hopefully begin to use alternate supports to exchange information across all environments.

The visuals that I want to purchase, such as photo cards and velcro boards, will be incorporated each day and used for daily schedules to aid in teaching them.

Providing students with access to visual and tactile supports can foster independence and make basic communication more effective.

I want to empower my students by providing access to various low-tech tools as they determine their own individual temporary or long-term communication preferences.
