This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I may be working with 5 and 6 year olds and you may be thinking I am crazy, but if you have been around a child under 6 recently you know they can use your technology better than you can... and they love it!

My students are in a lower income area with a highly transient population.

Many of my students take care of siblings and some are even in charge of waking up their parents to get to school. My students are bright, caring and passionate. My students need to learn skills that will help them be successful in their futures so that they can have the life of their idols and role models. Many of my students do not have technology at home, but they all know what technology is and can figure it out quickly. They are competitive and street savvy, but long to be cooperative and book smart too.

My Project

I am asking for a set of tablet computers that will allow my students to access educational applications and resources in a small group setting. The tablets will allow students to use technology in a variety of ways to demonstrate learning and cooperation. It will assist in testing my students and tracking their learning so that I can better provide for them. I am asking for one tablet for whole class use and for teacher tracking and resources. There are so many applications available now that aid with everything from reading and writing to brain exercises and music. Students can download books and practice reading skills with books they may not otherwise have access too. All the while learning how to use technology to demonstrate understanding - a skill vital to 21st century learners to be college and career ready.

This project will impact the lives of many students.

It will help keep my students motivated, challenged, collaborative and most importantly high achieving. This project will give my students the chance to be what they tell me they want to be when they grow up!
