This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Townsend Harris High School is one of the best schools in NYC. Our students come into the building ready and willing to stretch their mind and embrace the knowledge the world has to offer. They are excited to be in school and look forward to each days challenges.

Our students, for lack of a better word, are exceptional.

They are excited to go to school for a variety of reasons. They enjoy learning and being challenged. They question everything around them and do not except things at face value and are always looking for the deeper meaning and explanation. While our students are serious scholars they are very involved in all aspects of school. They belong to various clubs in the school, are involved in athletics, and tap into the creative minds through the arts. They are on their way to becoming well rounded and productive members of society.

My Project

We are requesting five Apple iPad minis and the accessories that will keep them in working order. Some of our students have their own devices but there are still many students who do not have the financial resources for personal Smart devices. This leaves these students at an academic disadvantage. Allowing these students access to Smart devices gives them access to information at their finger tips. While the devices will be located in school the students will be allowed to use them during classes and will have access to a professional who can instruct them on various applications that will enhance their education.

While five iPads may not seem like much, it is a start.

This will give us the opportunity to reach out to students who do not have access to this technology and allow them an equal playing field in their education.
