My Students
How can iPod Touch technology help a 2nd grade classroom? Reading? There's an app for that! Writing? There's an app for that! Math, Science, Art...? There's an app for that! The iPod is an innovative tool that will engage students and lead to higher levels of learning in all subjects.
I work with a wonderful group of second graders who are energetic, inquisitive, and highly motivated to learn.
They come from diverse backgrounds and have a wide range of learning needs, including students with learning disabilities, English Learners, and students that are Gifted. We are an urban school located in one of the largest school districts in the country. Although there has been a major decrease in funds for our school over the past few years, our school community has worked together to provide our students with a quality education and we are proud to be named a “California Distinguished School”. Yet, decreasing funds also means fewer resources for our students. Technology in our school is antiquated and in need of upgrading. These iPods will allow students to interact with a new technology that would otherwise be unavailable for them at school.
My Project
Opportunities for learning are limitless with iPods in the classroom! An iPod is an innovative tool that engages students and can lead to higher levels of learning in all subjects. Apps can be used to practice skills in highly engaging and motivating ways. Students can practice reading fluency, listen to e-books, do research, and work cooperatively to create videos on material they have learned in math, language arts, social studies, and science.
The iPod allows for differentiated learning! With the wide range of learners within my classroom, the iPods will allow differentiation of instruction and help meet the needs of all students at their instructional level. Each student will be able to practice skills that are essential to their learning, whether they are above, below, or on grade level. The iPods can be used independently, in small group or, with the speaker system, to enhance whole group learning. Cases will provide protection for years to come. iPod Touch will make learning fun!
The growing number of educational apps available make the iPod an invaluable resource in the classroom.
In addition, these iPods can be used with future students, so the benefits are long-lasting. An iPod touch will help my students learn and explore the world with a "touch" of a finger. I know that with your help, we can "touch" their futures!
