Help me give my students some things to help them work comfortably when they feel so active, have ways to keep their supplies organized, be able to sharpen their pencils, save on paper, and tell time!
I have been blessed with the sweetest class of 2nd graders! They are so amazing and inquisitive. We are a mixture of all different races and are about 50/50 boys and girls. A large percentage of my students qualify for free/reduced-price lunch. They are so motivated to learn and I am dedicated to giving them the best of myself! It's easy to do when they come in with huge smiles on their faces ready for a big hug. I want them to feel successful while learning. 2nd grade is a big year where SO much growth occurs. I want to provide them with learning experiences that will last a lifetime.
My Project
Today we better understand that some children just have to move to learn. There have been many advances in ways to help them move, but also keep them on task, working, and learning. Using the cushions and the stretchy bands, I hope to help my students by allowing them that release and movement, but without distracting others around them.
Our school is implementing the Leader in Me program and we are trying to help our students take control of their learning and progress.
If you help with my project they will have pencil pouches to keep their pencils, scissors, crayons, and glue in one place so that they can be more organized. When in small groups the caddy's will help me and other staff members who come in and work with my students, a specific place to keep extra supplies so the kiddos aren't transporting them every time they move from group to group. Organization of materials makes the day go by so much more smoothly.
With the large digital clock they can keep track of what we are doing and when transitions are coming. With the electric pencil sharpener they can be sure to have sharpened pencils on their own and will be more prepared to continue working. The highlighters would be great for helping my budding readers learn how to find answers within text and use them for writing and comprehension. The clean pockets are a great alternative for lots of copies. Students can put work in them, write on them, and then erase after being checked. Then they can replace the work with the next thing that they are doing.
