My students need markers, rocks and books to realize that they are unique and special. I want them to see that they can do anything they set their minds to do.
My students are so full of life and love of learning. The population, of our little Title 1 school in Brooklyn, NY is made up of many different cultures, from all over the world, who work together to help build peace at home, at school and in our community.
They are the peace builders for the future.
They are learning to communicate and collaborate to solve problems and learn. They are learning to have a growth mindset and know that mistake only opens another door towards the solution. They will practice these skills and more as we explore through STEAM activities.
My Project
The book "Only One You" is an inspiration for students to stay true to themselves. I will share this story with every single student in our school. I will use the story of the little fish and his journey through the ocean to inspire them to think about how unique and special they are.
I'm hoping it will inspire them to create a unique stone that is as individual as they are.
This project will be a to combine the creativity of art with literature. When the stones are complete, I would like to use the painted stones to make a path in our Peace Garden.
