Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am currently teaching kindergarten special education in a high needs community who are in desperate need to express themselves creatively through art.
In my special education kindergarten class there are many creative little minds who aren't able to express their creativity. Some children lack the ability to express themselves with words or gestures and they deserve the opportunity to express themselves and their talents any way that they can such as through art. The happiness on these children's faces when they are involved in an art project is priceless. They feel successful, confident, and happy.
My class is in desperate need of art supplies so I can inspire and enrich my student's education. They need a fair chance to be able to express themselves creatively. For some children this is the ONLY way to express themselves and I want to give them the opportunity. There is no room in the budget for art supplies therefore I have been trying to support the children's creativity as much as possible. However it is quite impossible in the economy today. Arts and crafts are just as important for their development as reading and writing and I want to enhance their development.
The empowerment that art gives my students is amazing. The look on their faces while doing an art project shows that they feel successful, confident, and happy. Please help me keep this momentum for my students.
