Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Let me tell you about my first grade students. I have 11 girls and 9 boys. They are all very sweet, kind, and oh so respectful. I love how resilient they are during this global pandemic. While many adults believe they will fall behind academically, they are actually making a lot of progress. This is due to their resiliency and ability to adapt to new situations. I love being online with them because they are so eager to learn new things. They love asking questions about so many different topics. They have so many wonderings about our world and sound so hopeful about our future.

My Project

My students are in a low income community. Currently, the only books they have access to are the ones in the reading apps online. My students need books they can hold and feel. My students are all reading at different levels. These book collections come in the different levels my students need. With your donation, my students will receive books in their hands they can read at home. Their parents will be able to read with them as well. They can even read with siblings. My students love to read. By them having these books at home, their imagination will be stimulated and understanding of the world expanded. Another benefit to reading at home with books they can hold is it helps them develop language and listening skills.
