My Students
My students live in rural Maine. Many come from a low socio-economic background. They are passionate about our school and our community. The way they have responded to learning about local soldiers who died in war has been inspiring to me. Students report that history has come alive by doing real research and meeting families of soldiers who sacrificed in war.
My students students are excited to help our community remember the Fallen on centennial of the end of the First World War.
My Project
The soldier silhouette is a visual and physical symbol of the soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice in war. He will serve as a representation of the soldiers they will be researching.
Some say Americans have forgotten WW1.
On the Centennial of the end of the War, my students will remember them and their sacrifice as they complete research projects on local soldiers killed in the war and use this soldier silhouette to inspire them and our community to help remember the soldiers who died in war.
Students will deliver a eulogy to the Silent Hero next to the soldier silhouette, which will bring the experience to life.
