There Are Engineers Invading My Library!

Help me give my students KEVA Planks and Brainflakes for STEM centers in the library.

My Project

Our PK- 2nd grade students love creating and building. STEAM activities and programs are an excellent opportunity to introduce concepts and promote skills that can set you up for creative, scientific, and collaborative thinking now and in the future. Makerspaces in my library give my students more opportunities to be "hands-on" in their learning. My goal is to set up STEAM centers for students during their library time.

KEVA Plank challenges, Brainflake creations, Make-It/Take-It projects, Brain Teasers, and coding are all included in these stations.

KEVA planks are a natural fit for libraries because they are an accessible way for all visitors to engage in a learning activity. They create community, yet have a meditative quality that causes people of all ages to take their time and enjoy the creative process. Students have the opportunity to build on their own or as part of a group.

My overall goal for these materials is to create stations that encourage creativity, imagination, group work, social emotional learning, and independence in all students that visit our library.
