Did you enjoy reading comic books growing up? As a pull-out special education English teacher, I always seek ways to entice my students to read. These graphic novels offer more appropriate readability to tempt my struggling readers to accompany the tragedy based on Macbeth's choices.
Graphic novels help differentiate levels and serve as a great bridge to improve reading skills so an individual will devour more advanced and challenging texts independently.
The Tragedy of Macbeth is still relevant to today's society for its themes, important life lessons, and relatable characters. One such theme demonstrates how too much ambition can lead to ultimate destruction. While pressure can cause one to do things they never thought possible, this tale also teaches people to trust their inner voices and to stand up for themselves.
Mostly, these graphic novels will motivate my students to want to read more autonomously, engaging them in this timeless tale of good versus evil. The accompanying powerful images will improve their comprehension, allowing them to better relate to and empathize with the characters.
