My Students

I teach theater in a Title I elementary school in East New York, Brooklyn. I work with a diverse population of students throughout the day. Our school is a mosaic of cultures. Acting is a way to teach English Language learners and special needs students. The science teacher and I recognize that theater is way to explore science concepts for those children in language acquisition mode.

As a teacher I need basic school supplies for our upcoming thematic Environment Science Ecosystem theatrical plays.

Our school is limited in the resources that our students need for the school day.

My Project

I am requesting a variety of writing materials such as markers , chart paper , mead paper and post its. These materials will be used by my students to write and produce ecosystem plays. These supplies will help with the scenery for these plays as well. I am requesting a speaker for whole group instruction and to provide background music to our ecosystem play. Students will construct research in science and bring their background information to my theater. class. This is where students will be able to use their research to develop monologs or small plays on an environmental topic.
