This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Distance learning has been a challenge. This year in particular, many students have been introduced to math as an elective subject. This is in addition to the core curriculum math classes.

I am very proud of the 200+ students that I teach, that have risen to the challenge of having two math classes.

Although this pandemic, has taken a multitude of things from my students. They still come to class ready to learn.

My Project

This year has been a whirlwind of complexity. My district just returned to hybrid learning, and with that change comes a lot of new rules. Students will no longer be allowed to sit in small groups, share materials, or even move from their assigned chairs without a through plan in place. This will greatly impact how math is taught for the rest of the year.

This wireless drawing tablet will help me illustrate the math concepts to students so that they can get a visual and fundamental understanding of each skill being taught with clear, easy to read letters and numbers.

As a K-8 encore math teacher, I want to provide my students with fun and engaging math content that will help them succeed in their core math classes.

Students will have different math classes twice in one day. For some students having 2 separate math classes will create an overwhelming sense of anxiety. I strive to make the encore math class as fun and light as possible, while still providing students the essential content they need to tackle grade-level content.
