This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is located in East Harlem, NY. My students are from diverse cultures. Most of my students are from low-income households. Many of my students are faced with challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite those challenges, they come in excited and eager to learn and interact with their classmates. My classroom is an ICT setting where I have both general and special education students.

My students are special because they inspire me to become a better teacher.

They have taught me that there is a brighter side despite any negativity you are faced with. I want to be able to provide my students with a safe and consistent classroom environment. A home away from home.

My Project

My ICT kindergarten students are in need of some basic supplies. Many families were unable to send in school supplies in September due to economic difficulties.

We are currently running low on supplies in the classroom.

We need pencils, glue, cardstock, and copy paper. I currently have limited access to copy paper. My job as the teacher is to ensure that my general and special education students are learning by differentiating the materials and lessons. When differentiating I use a lot of paper creating different versions of the assignments for my students.

My students inspire me to become a better educator as well as a better person. Despite their own personal struggles they are always smiling and eager to learn.
