This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This year I have twenty-seven magical students in my Hogwarts themed classroom. We are maybe Muggles, but we all have magic inside of us. They attend a neighborhood school in a low socioeconomic, urban community. My students come from hard working, but low income families. This neighborhood, our school, and these families were hit very hard by Hurricane Ida. But like a Phoenix we are rising from the ashes and rubble. 100 percent of our students receive free lunch. Our school is working to inspire and transform an educational movement where students can develop the academic and personal skills necessary to be prepared for college, their community and the world. My school is a multicultural school that provides an artistically enriched educational environment that motivates student learning, maintains high student achievement, enhances instruction for all students, bridges cultural and social differences and promotes students to become lifelong learners who are able to contribute to our community. Our school is full of dedicated teachers and staff members, the majority of which live in the community.

My students need to learn to write using the Lakeshore Magic Board, Write the Letter Activity Center, etc.

They write the way they speak and they need better communication skills. Good writing skills will allow them to better express themselves, get the message across to the reader, and have all the leverage they need to meet their needs.
