This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As a high school art teacher, I know it is important to teach my students more than just how to draw what they see and express themselves visually. I can help to promote life skills and support core subjects through cross-curricular lessons.
At our high-needs campus, we have students eager to learn but they are often lacking in reading and writing skills.
If I can help encourage creativity and self-expression while incorporating journaling and self-reflection, I can help my students become more confident writers.
I find that one of the best ways to encourage artistic students to take part in writing activities is to incorporate a colorful twist! By allowing students to use colorful PaperMate Flair pens, they are always eager to get started writing. Color coding their work allows them to better organize their thoughts, make connections, and highlight key thoughts.
As an art teacher, I know my students love color! What better way to encourage them to practice writing than to give them an entire rainbow of possibilities!
