My students need 32 art history books from "The World's Greatest Artist" series by Mike Venezia.

My Students

"Art is not what you see, but what you make others see." - Edgar Degas Do you remember a favorite painting that touched your heart and made you think differently about life? That is what I hope for my students. I wish for them to be touched by art and open new worlds for them.

I teach fifty-five 4th grade students from fifteen area schools who have been identified as gifted.

There is no funding for gifted education in Alabama. Our state education systems have been tremendously hurt by the economic turndown, the oil spill in the Gulf, and the devastating tornadoes in our area. Any materials we get are purchased from our own pocket, thus no books, no equipment, and no materials.

My Project

Can you imagine a group of fourth graders talking about art history as if they are college scholars? I would love for my students to be able to learn about the world's great artist and how history influenced the artist. If you choose to support my project, you will make this a reality in the lives of my students. You will make it possible for my students to have a resource that would not normally be available to them.

The "Getting to Know the World's Great Arts" series is excellent as a means to motivate students to learn about art history.

They are geared at the school age child and will be great to stimulate their own creativity in their own art work.
