This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have 33 fun and energetic students! With having so many in the classroom, they build of ideas from one another and come up with fun activities that they would like to do in the classroom. When COVID-19 hit, students were pushed to online learning. After two years of being in the pandemic, they are eager to do activities through technology.

So far throughout the school year, my students ask at least once a week if they are going to be able to create videos or do something with their Chromebooks.

But with having so many students in a small classroom, it is hard to share headphones when you only have so many. Especially when they break so often to the point where they can't hear out of the headphones.

My Project

During the month of December, my students did a Christmas Ornament project. They created a adobe sparks video about their Christmas traditions and what their families did. With having so many students in a classroom and not having enough supplies, I had to send students a few at a time to record themselves that didn't have headphones. But even then, you can still hear other noises in the background. We had to share headphones with other classes in order to do the project.

This year for writing and science, I want to do more projects similar to this that integrates technology and more videos for them to film.

By having these headphones, students will be able to hear the instructions and participate in the learning activities. The headphones we currently have are breaking. The students are having to wiggle the cord or twist the jack to make them work. Access to new headphones will give my students the opportunity to use their technology to the best of their ability. But without the ability to hear what is being taught, they do not fully understanding what is coming out through their headphones.
