This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Imagine being in class and having a wonderful question about the plasma on the son and the plasma in your body . In fact your question is so good the teacher doesn't know the answer. You can't go home and look it up and you can use the class computer because it's not your day on the rotation chart.
As a teacher I couldn't ask for a more deserving group of kids.
They don't have much at home but come to school everyday with attitudes like they don't have a care in the world. They are also a very diverse group. I have 11 ethnic groups and 6 religions in just my class. My campus has often been referred to as a campus where you really can feel the love. My school is a title 1 school and 71% of our kiddos qualify for free lunch.
My Project
Students will use the tablets to utilize iStations, Think Through the Math and Prezi. The students will use the iPads to create presentations in apps like Shadow Puppet and EduCreations, as well as access apps to build on and practice math skills. My higher level students will use them to learn how to write code and blog. By the end of the year scores should be drastically higher. With the ability to add 6 additional students daily to the extra resources; I will be able to impact more. When you put up to date technology in front of a child who is eager to learn you often hear them say, "just a few more minutes please!" It's awesome!
Outside of the classroom students are living in a society that is embedded with technology.
This means that they will need a different set of skills to succeed. Having technology resources within their classroom will help move them towards this success and better prepare them for the 21st century.
