This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Let me first start by saying, I truly do love building rapport with my students. I love watching them thrive in places they felt they could not be hopeful. It’s the best part of my job. However, the majority of my job is meeting with my students who confide in me to discuss hardships that they or their family are facing. It is important that I have the tools, and/or resources to allow them a space to feel comfortable to disclose their emotions or circumstances. Because most of my students are younger, some will often fidget with their hands or look for comfort as they discuss challenging or vulnerable issues. My responsibility is to listen, provide help and even reassuring hope. I ultimately want to provide a space where they feel safe when they need to talk. When you donate to my office, you are donating to a space where children WILL feel supported, uplifted, and will ultimately have a safe haven.
