My Students
My students love band, and their excitement is infectious. They love all aspects of the music classroom, especially when their learning involves out-of-the-box lesson plans that get them moving - like our annual "Band Olympics."
Band combines different timbres that present musical colors, telling stories and evoking emotions.
My students are eager to learn about these colors, and I want to do all that I can to help them. They are on a musical journey, discovering their musical identity, and I want to help ensure that their experience is as fulfilling as possible.
My Project
Temple blocks are an integral part of a concert band percussion section, and our band does not currently own a set of temple blocks. This lack of instrumentation prevents us from performing repertoire that would benefit the entire band.
Temple blocks have a very specific timbre (think of the clopping of horse hooves on the pavement), and no other instruments can substitute this sound.
It is also important to note that this instrument will be a part of our band for years, serving numerous students and ensembles. When quality equipment is placed in their hands, every member of the band can be more successful.
