My students need a set of The Tiger Rising by Kate DiCamillo to increase their passion for reading.

My Students

Have you ever watched a student dive into a book and read with passion and excitement? Well, that is the type of love I try to instill in my students.

My 4th grade students are such a fun and eager group.

They love challenges, new experiences, and have developed a love for reading throughout the year. They are at a lower income school but regardless of the circumstances they face, they are eager to learn.

My Project

My students are able to relate to The Tiger Rising because they too face difficult situations at such a young age. Through the novel, the students will be able to discuss situations and express emotions they have experienced. Also, my students will learn more about their own classmates and ways to encourage each other in the process.

Too often students turn away from reading because they find it "boring." My goal is for my students to never feel that way about reading.

I have watched them dive into novels that they don't want to put down. That's the kind of passion I want my students to continue to have!
