it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
CBHS is a Title I school in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn, New York. Most students reside in Brooklyn, and have aspirations for careers in the medical fields. In their Sophomore year, students may apply to our competitive CTE programs offered in Nursing, Medical, and Dental; which allows them to work right out of college or have advanced experience in their field of study before college. Our student body is roughly 98% African American, and 64% female. We have partnerships with the Brooklyn Museum and Botanic Gardens, both located just across the street. This allows wonderful, unique opportunities for daily art enrichment and inspiration for our students. The school's mission is to mold competitive global citizens by strengthening their literacy, numeracy, technological, decision making abilities, public health awareness, academics, health careers, fine arts, STEM, mindfulness and extracurricular activities. All constituent partners will continually refine and model the ideals of respect, tolerance, equity and access.
My Project
This year was our school's return to in-person learning after two years of remote learning. To ease the transition back during a time where the pandemic is still in effect; we desperately need: lysol wipes and strong paper towels to prevent the spread; as well as aid in proper cleaning between each class. We are also limiting material use at this time to dry studio art supplies only. For this reason, we are in need of two essential supplies all art rooms should have for children: automatic pencil sharpeners, and fine tipped, permanent detail markers to help improve and enhance any drawing.
