Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
We lack suitable school funding and need classroom resources to replenish essential supplies for next year. These items range from normal classroom writing implements and materials to complete academic tasks. The campus was built in 1939 and is considered a Title I school. We would benefit from a moving whiteboard to help with curriculum and note taking for noting important historical relevance points and improving identified chronological events from our curriculum. Our physical education program is extremely outdated and use equipment from the 1980s-1990s. Students look forward to P.E. throughout the day and deserve to have basketballs without bulges and worn out grip. We currently do not have a specified place to put our equipment safely and items are left out without a specified area. We share this gym with afterschool AAU programs and want to make sure that we can have an accessible place to put our equipment for us to use and not disappear. We have a program for students to earn high school credits early and must have headphones to complete online activities. Campus purchases cheap headsets annually which always break and get destroyed. Students much more likely to take care of due to being better quality and do not go into ears. Many of our students made bad decisions which caused them to be sent to us. Many of whom have a rough family life and past, they deserve a chance to improve their trajectory and make an effort to change their future pathway forward.
