Help me give my students a cabinet, printer, snacks, school supplies, and drink supplies for comforts they have had accessible while learning at home, to make classroom transition easier.
I teach high school students of many different backgrounds with a shared love of the arts. Our school is an extended day school which can be exhausting for these hardworking scholars. My students consist of dancers, creative writers, visual artists, instrumentalists, theater/musical theater performers, and vocalists. They don't just create or "do" art, they live it!
I have the incredible opportunity to build community amongst the school; This year will be especially important because they are getting acclimated to the building for the first time in a long time.
If these are the times of their lives, I want them to remember them forever with smiles on their faces. These students are at the most important stage of their high school journey. I am incredibly lucky that I am afforded the opportunity to see each of them grow and achieve their dreams. I can't wait to see what they aspire to.
My Project
For over a year the students have been at home learning, enjoying their comforts anytime. Now that all the students are required to be back in person, I want to make it as easy as possible for them to jump back into the classroom. I want pencils, pens, paper, warm beverages, and snacks to be available for them. They should not stress about not having the materials or being hungry in the classroom. They should be able to focus on learning. With all these supplies in the classroom, I will be able to eliminate the need to leave the classroom, for the most part. Everything they need for learning should be only a reach away, and with these materials, that will happen.
Students have significantly more engagement when they aren't worried about supplies or hunger.
Help me bring the focus back on learning and off of the stresses to get there.
My students are in the school building from 8 am to 5 pm every day. I would love to be able to have a cabinet to put away these supplies when I am not present to ensure they are available during our classes together. I know this is a huge ask but I know my students will benefit for years to come with your donations.
