My Project
We are seeking your support to provide Pre-AP English I students with copies of The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert Louis Stevenson—a short but powerful classic that introduces students to complex themes of duality, identity, and moral conflict. This accessible text challenges readers to think critically about human nature and the consequences of unchecked ambition.
Learning Goals:
Analyze character development, symbolism, and narrative structure.
Explore themes of duality, morality, and identity within a gothic framework.
Strengthen literary analysis and inference-making aligned to English I TEKS.
Major Creative Projects:
Duality Mask Project: Students design symbolic masks representing the inner conflict of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, accompanied by a written analysis.
Gothic Soundtrack: Students curate a mood-based playlist with annotations linking music to the tone, setting, and themes of the novel.
Mini Mock Trial: Students stage a trial for Dr. Jekyll, exploring character motivation and ethical responsibility using textual evidence.
Your donation will help bring classic literature to life in a modern classroom, supporting rich discussion, creativity, and critical thinking.
