This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We need to prepare! Prepare ourselves for a world that has technology that moves ahead at light speed. The two computers I have in my room do not work. Because we are Early Childhood, we are not a priority in our school so any new computers or technological equipment goes to the upper grades.
I have 20 ESL students (13 PK and 7 Kindergarten) in a very small classroom in an old school.
Seventeen of these students are refugees. My class speaks 8 different languages, including English. One hundred percent of my class qualifies as Title 1 students. Most of these students get uniforms from the school. My classroom is divided into workstations (centers) where the students go every day. Several of my students are already falling behind their classmates.
My Project
My students need these tablets to have accessibility to technology that is not usually available to them at home or even in our school. I want to inspire my students with a love of learning that will carry them through their entire life. I have requested these tablets to use in small group to give my students the chance to experience hands-on learning from across the spectrum in the sciences and mathematics. I will download educational programs that emphasize math and science, as well as literacy.
I would love to be able to improve my math and especially science areas since these are the core areas where building a strong foundation is of vital importance.
By using the requested technology in a small group setting in my class I hope to improve their chances for success.
