Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I continue to mentor and teach a group of 40 eager, inquisitive, enthusiastic, and hard-working students (ranging from 14 – 18) in the Robotic Stem Club. Many of the students in this club come from low-income households. Consequently, it is very difficult for them to get the materials and tools they need to achieve their full potential in school. This club is in need of tools, motors, tires, batteries, 3D printer, printer, Cricut vinyl cutter, and vinyl (this tool is used for labels to enhance the Robot cars) in order to ensure each student's success. Given their eagerness to learn, many of them will request to stay after school three to four times a week. Clearly, this shows their steadfast commitment and dedication for knowledge! Traits such as these are commendable and should be supported, especially when it comes to adolescents. After all, our children are our future.
My Project
By providing these materials to my students, their creativity, self-development, and ability to work as a team will be greatly enhanced and nourished in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). These supplies that I am requesting for my students will be of great use for their future competitions. They will be eager to get to work on their Robotic Stem Club as soon as they receive their new materials.
Presently, my students are in the process of modifying a 1/10 ratio RC car by changing the gear ratios to enhance the speed and manipulating a few more variables like the motors, tires, and adding various lubricants to the differential.
We have other projects lined up in the future like engineering a wind tunnel.
