This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My first-grade students and I are located in Pacoima, CA and are considered to make up a large part of the community's heart and driving energy. We are a Title I school so a full 100% of students receive free breakfast and lunch. While my students come from a low socioeconomic and Latino community, we work hard to break down language and cultural barriers and ensure families are involved in every way possible.
My students' positive attitudes and enthusiasm to learn encourages me every day to give them the learning experiences that will last a lifetime.
Every day, we inspire each other to be the best learners we can be through perseverance, cooperation, self-control, and courtesy of each other. They take pride in their efforts and are willing to challenge their minds for the sake of learning.
My Project
I am requesting math and writing tools for the new school year. After a year and a half of online learning, our students will finally be back in the classroom! Last year, my students were given supplies from my classroom to help provide an enriching learning experience at home. My students were allowed to keep these materials to use for their future learning. It now comes time to replenish math classroom materials and provide new writing materials for the new school year.
By donating, you will help to provide an equal and hands-on learning opportunity to all my students.
This year my students will be able to use their own math manipulatives during lessons knowing they have exactly what they need and not having to clean and share between activities. They will also have the opportunity to have age appropriate journals that will help them to enjoy writing during writers workshop, along with their pencil holders (toothbrush holders).
Who would have ever thought we'd be here now? Things are looking brighter with us together. This is definitely the start of something new!
