This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are participating in the Students Rebuild 2024-2025: Spark Peace Project. Students Rebuild invites art activists like my fourth graders on a journey towards a more peaceful world.
Students Rebuild states, "Art is a powerful tool for social change; throughout human history, the arts have been used to inspire action, share ideas, stir emotions, and build community."
I'm inviting my students to create art to turn into art activism! Students will use the cardstock and double-ended art markers to create art to spread kindness by expressing themselves with colors, images and words. When students work for something bigger than themselves, and to help others, everyone thrives.
Beautiful and informative books, such as A Flood of Kindness and Walking Together will inspire us to do our part to grow interpersonal, community and global peace. These books will support my fourth graders in growing compassion and understanding across differences while addressing conflict through connection and collaboration.
For every artwork we submit to Students Rebuild before June, Creative Visions will donate $5 to peacebuilding organizations. My students’ artworks will be a perfect example of the kindness ripple effect extending outward and beyond our classroom community to communities worldwide.
The world needs each of US! We are ready to use our voice, compassion, and creativity to toss kindness like confetti!
