This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Most of my students read several years below their grade level, and many of them hate to read. I want to get my students interested in reading. Using audio CDs while we read novels in class helps the students better understand the material, and it enhances the reading experience.
I teach at a middle school in Los Angeles, and my students live at or below the poverty level.
My students face challenges every day, but they still manage to get to school. I want to help my students as much as possible so that they can become successful members of society. Reading is an important part of this goal. Many of my students do not enjoy reading, so it's a struggle to get them motivated to read.
My Project
With the audio CDs, my students will be able to listen to novels while we read along in class. This helps the students improve their fluency, word pronunciation, and reading comprehension. Because my students lack confidence when reading, the audio portion of the reading experience will help them build confidence.
