This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Seeing is believing. Seeing pictures or sketches on the board is one thing, but seeing something with your own eyes is a real learning experience.
Our school is located in Northern California.
We are in a very low income area which struggles to get funding for some of the simplest things. Technology of any kind is new to many of my students and my goal is to try and show them what is out there.
My Project
Having the opportunity to provide my students with microscopes will give my students the additional tools they need to experience science in a hands on environment.
For the first time many of these students will have the opportunity to see and experience micro organisms that they have only heard or read about in books. These microscopes will broaden my students learning experience.
It will help to show them how the smallest things work together to create life. My goal is for my students to gain a greater understanding and enjoyment of science. Learning that through science many doors can open for my them. What was once a dream for them may now become reality.
Aside from the educational value of these tools it also shows my students that there is a human value to education.
There are caring individuals who are willing to support their education and their futures. That in itself will have a tremendous impact on my students.
