Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students generally come from low-income families that live around the school neighborhood located in City Heights, San Diego. Most of my students are African Americans and Latinos, followed by students from the Pacific Islands or Asian backgrounds. Our school is a unique place. The school has a great percentage of students with special needs. Therefore, our school needs to be equipped with technological devices, lab tools and materials, and other resources that would guarantee that all students have what they need to learn and succeed adequately.
We need your cooperation in order to provide students who have ADHD, ADD, or hyperkinetic behavior with silent fidgets.
Students might increase their focus on lessons if they feel calm and have an object to release energy. I am planning to give my students snake cubes, silent fidgets, and silly putty. I expect that this action would help students be more attentive to class.
My Project
I have students who have trouble in remaining calm and focused on daily instruction. Some of these students have been diagnosed with attention and hyperactivity conditions such as ADHD, ADD...while other students just suffer from stressful situations at home that affect their readiness for learning.
I would like to make students feel comfortable with stress-reliever toys that might help them concentrate on their task and instruction.
Therefore, I am requesting fidget spinners, silly putty, and snake cubes that students can use to relax, grab and play with... and most importantly learn and create as they have a better disposition for learning.
