My Students
My students are fourth graders who have grown up in North Tulsa, Oklahoma. My students will work hard to develop multiple aspects of themselves because, we got GRIT, we don't quit! Students in my class show grit by work hard with task that are given because they want to complete it to the best of their ability. They believe that the things they are being taught in class are beneficial. They also use their personal future goals to motivate them to work hard on the task at hand because they see the connection between what they are doing in class and the things they want to achieve later in life.
My Project
Having pencil sharpeners and alternative lighting will help students in various ways. Students will be able to sharpen their own pencils throughout the school day. This is another chance for students to take on responsibility and be prepared for class.
In order to maximize learning time, it is beneficial to allow students to sharpen their own pencils to avoid disrupting instruction.
Also, alternative lighting will set the mood for different lessons during the school day. In my classroom students focus better with dimmer lighting during independent work time. Once the windows are open, students have trouble being able to see well enough to do work. I want to be able to give students the opportunity to do their best work. Like wise, when we review and play educational games, the lighting should be bright and encourage high energy. This will increase student engagement and participation.
