The Sensory Sanctuary

Help me give my students a calm, safe, break room with a calming pillow, sensory swing, sensory tiles and calming materials!

My Project

The Sensory Sanctuary will be a room utilized by students K-6 who need a break from their classroom to calm down and regulate in a quieter space, away from other people and distractions.

We want the Sensory Sanctuary to be an accessible space that students are able to go to calm themselves in a way that works for each individual student.

To meet the needs of our many learners who will benefit from this classroom, we are asking for a wide variety of materials. The sensory swing will be used for students with Autism who need the swinging balance to regulate. Other students like to lay down, which is what the large classroom pillow will help with! Many of our students are sensory seeking, making the light table, sensory items, and bubble tubes a necessary option.

The goal of this classroom is to transform our current space into a break space that is calming, purposeful, and accessible for all students. Thank you for helping us make this space come to life!
