This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are young and many are English Language Learners who are learning to read. About half of my students do not have English learning supports at home and need as much instruction as possible to come from school. I need as many ways as I can to get their learning to stick and Secret Stories will help make their learning fun, engaging, and meaningful.
Secret Stories is a brain-based research company that has shown success in improving students' phonics and writing abilities.
Students are taught simple and engaging stories to go along with phonics rules that help their learning stick and help them apply their knowledge of the secrets of reading and writing. It is not a phonics or reading program. It is designed to supplement any phonics or reading curriculum that is used in the school system. This will be a perfect addition to our daily and weekly routines that will be quick to introduce, and will be a powerful learning tool for my students, both English and non-English speakers, readers, and writers.
