The Search for Life and the Holy Grail of Everything

Help me give my students a means to simulate diffraction telescopes, search for the fundamentals of life in the universe thru light, discover the very nature of atomic theory and how emission lines help determine element and compounds.

My Project

The anticipation of the materials for this project is overwhelming as the physics students of our ART school look forward to learning how astrobiologists have the ability to " see" into the universe and stars to discover habitable planets and solar systems. Using light from specific sources and then unmasking it using diffraction grating lenses teach them how specific elements, compounds, and substances give off distinct packages of energy that create a barcode they they alone have. These will also be used with over 150 chemistry students to help them understand the true signature of elements, electron shells and valence electrons. Biology students will also be using these to see how pharmaceutical companies can use spectral analysis to reproduce naturally occuring remedies for medicine! This funding would literally help 450 students. Being an Art magnet school it is so necessary for our students to be immersed in the sciences and see the relationships between them.
