My Project
Our grade is filled with happy little learners who are being introduced to the science behind learning to read and spell. We, teachers, are being trained as part of a state-wide mandate to learn to teach this way. Part of our new direction in reading instruction is teaching the children the correct pronunciation of consonants, single vowels, and vowel teams.
Our sound walls will show the children proper mouth formation for correct pronunciation.
The decodable text will give them practice in reading the six syllable types, with the goal to reach complete automaticity. Both are also excellent resources for teaching ELLs.
These TpT gift cards will enable my team to purchase multiple legal copies of the sound wall images as well as the decodable readers. As we trade students for ability grouping in reading instruction, it won't matter where our students go; all classrooms will have the same sound walls and decodable passages.
