At our Title I-funded school, my students are faced with many challenges both in and out of the classroom. I am looking to provide my students with rich and meaningful learning experiences.
My students are resilient, creative, hardworking, and very active.
They like to set goals and help each other achieve them. They love to read. They thrive on lots of positive encouragement. From the minute I pick them up in the morning, I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives; however, I can control their experiences while in my classroom.
My Project
My students were in kindergarten the year the COVID19 pandemic hit our world. Some of these children have been out of the classroom for almost 3 years. My students are struggling with basic reading foundational skills. The reading materials provided by my district lightly cover phonics skills.
I would like to start researching the science of reading and see how I can improve my reading instruction.
The books that I have requested have been recommended by a Science of Reading Facebook page.
Please consider helping me add to my bag of tricks. This veteran teacher needs some help!
