My students are fun-loving kids that love learning. Even before the school closure most of the students were at least a year behind grade level. They all come from low-income households and have not had much experience with the world outside their community.
Most of my students do not have access to technology.
So I am making packets of work to send to students homes so that they can continue to learn. I also am having to significantly modify my instruction so that students can be continuing to learn.
My Project
These materials are going to help me teach STEM lessons during e-learning. STEM is a key subject that is can be overlooked in primary grades especially during virtual learning. These materials including math games, books, a small greenhouse, and a butterfly house will help students engage in new STEM topics. Most of my students do not have books in their homes; so during our Zoom sessions I will be reading and asking questions to test their understanding of the book. I will also be using the manipulatives to help students get exposed to new ideas in reading, math and science so that they can be ready to roll next year.

So with this extended time outside of school my students are losing even more desperately needed instruction. These materials are designed to make e-learning fun more exciting as well as engaging.
