Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The Safe Space will offer students interactive apps focused on mindfulness, breathing exercises, and relaxation techniques, aiding them in maintaining focus and self-soothing. Additionally, the technology will provide calming videos or sounds to cultivate a serene atmosphere.
Updated tech materials such as stands, holders, and cases will ensure that the technology remains easily accessible and well-protected.
These accessories will enable students to use the technology hands-free for guided meditation or deep breathing exercises, seamlessly integrating tech-based emotional growth activities into their routine.
Fidget toys are essential for students who need to release excess energy or enhance their focus. These tools help children channel nervous energy, promoting a sense of calm and concentration. By providing a variety of textures and sensory experiences, we equip students with the means to self-soothe during moments of anxiety, overwhelm, or distraction.
A curated selection of Social Emotional Learning books will introduce vital concepts of emotional intelligence, including empathy, self-regulation, and emotional understanding. Reading these stories allows children to connect with their feelings and learn effective management strategies, fostering meaningful discussions about emotions and personal growth.
Lastly, sensory items like soft fabrics and weighted plushies will offer tactile experiences to help students ground themselves when feeling overwhelmed. These tools are effective in calming down during stressful moments, enabling students to return to class ready to engage.
Collectively, these materials will transform the Safe Space into a place where students can practice emotional regulation, contributing to a more positive and supportive classroom environment.
