My Students
My students come from very diverse backgrounds and always seek ways to connect culturally with other students.
I am a fourth-year teacher in a large school district in North Carolina.
I was voted First Year Teacher of the Year and have always tried to live up to that recommendation. I teach second grade curriculum to twenty-five wonderful students. I have my Masters Degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in Special Education. I am always looking for professional development that will help make an impact on my students.
My Project
I am requesting a full day of professional development at the Ron Clark Academy in Atlanta, Georgia. I am seeking development to help increase student engagement through higher order questioning. I am also interested in learning more on the following topics:
• Teaching creatively while achieving high standardized tests
• Implementing games that promote student engagement
• Promoting academic rigor while meeting the needs of all learners
This professional development will impact my classroom and students in many different ways.
It will help to create a climate and culture that promotes student success. My students come from very diverse backgrounds and this training will prepare me to help my students create connections with their classmates.
