Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students come from different countries and different backgrounds. They have experienced many difficulties on their long journey to this country, but what all of them have in common is their desire to learn new things. Sometimes is very difficult for students to express their feeling and ideas using words, but providing them with the opportunity of using Art in the classroom can provide a very natural and safe way for them to express themselves.

Art is an activity that can employ all the senses: sight, hearing, touch, smell, and taste.

My students will use paint, crayons, watercolors, paper, scissors, and glue to draw or create pieces to express their ideas, and feeling, then, write about their art pieces in their journals. Having all the supplies they need for school also helps them feel more confident in their ability to function in the classroom.
